I started my very first wushu lesson in September 1986.
Trained under Master Ng Cheng Chua, at Ulu Pandan Community Centre. We trained on every Friday evenings.
Training was tough, as we were trained in the traditional forms of Chang Quan (Northern Style Boxing).
I was also trained by Master Victor Chong, at Queenstown Community Centre, who taught me in the
traditional forms of Nan Quan (Southern Style Boxing).
I took part in the 1989 National Wushu Championship, held in Bedok Sports Hall. That was my first National Competition.
I took part in the Traditional Short Weapon routine, "Ba Gua" Broadsword. I got in the 7th placing.
Thereafter, being selected as 3rd disciple of Master Ng in December 1989, I started training for competitive wushu.
Serious training got me a Bronze Medal in the 1991 National Wushu Championships, held in the Geylang Indoor Stadium.
I was selected into the National Wushu Team in 1991.
After my National Service in end 1994, I was trained under a famous and highly respectable China coach,
Master Zhou Shu Sen. He was the National Coach for Singapore National Wushu Federation.
National Team training was tough, we trained 6 nights per week.
In the 1996 National Wushu Championships, held in Geylang Indoor Stadium, I was the National Champion, a Gold
Medallist in the Men's Spear Event.
I started coaching in 1996.
With techniques learned from my Masters and seniors, I have trained many students, several of them eventually
became champions. And some of whom are in the National Team today.
